Spiritual Sunday (Our Lady of Guadalupe)

Our Lady Of Guadalupe

Our Lady of Guadalupe Church here now in our community.
This is the view I saw from the highway and just had to drive past! I had never noticed it before. When I was young, my parents used to load all five children up for church and then look at farm equipment after church...was that fun? I didn't think so at the time, but now I like to drive around looking at houses and churches!
Not only that, but I just had to walk up to the structure.....and look up at the cross high in sky! Massive!
Well any of you who know me well.....know I adore .......arched doors and windows! The lighting is unique. This building is unlike any other in our area....this is the Midwest. Our Lady of Guadalupe is the Spanish celebrated 16th-century icon of the virgin Mary. According to traditional account, the image appeared miraculously on the front of a simple peasant's cloak. The image still exists on display in the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico City. This is perhaps Mexico's most popular religious/cultural image. I was not aware of Our Lady of Guadalupe even though I was raised Catholic (now attend a non-denominational church called WCC)..... so did a little research.
And look at the hardware! This is an intriguing place as many church buildings can be, but God is much more than present in a beautiful structure.....WE ARE HIS Church and HIS HOLY SPIRIT resides in us as well. While I can appreciate gorgeous architecture, HE IS THE MASTER BUILDER! "I will pour out My Spirit unto you, I will make known My Words unto you." Proverbs 1:23

I too enjoy visiting church buildings. New or old--it doesn't make any difference. I have preached in little country churches and large, city churches. We have traveled to distant places like London and Paris. We have seen some impressive places of worship. Thanks for the splendid pictures and commentary.

Always amazing to me how churches are constructed...All the planning, meetings, financial programs... just the tons of work that goes into the completion of the initial vision... Having been involved it that process I can say it's is both overwhelming and amazing all at the same time, xoxo~Kathy~ Sweet Up-North Mornings...
